Mormon Gospel of Gethsemane: Garden Variety Heresy…

Christ-Gethsemane2

“It was in Gethsemane, on the slopes of the Mount of Olives, that Jesus made his perfect atonement by the shedding of his blood – more so than on the cross.” – BYU professor Robert J. Matthews

If any man (Joseph Smith, Brigham Young or any other expert of Mormon theology…) comes preaching any other gospel than the Gospel of Salvation through Faith Alone in Jesus Christ Alone, let him be accursed…

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” – Galatians 1:6-8

Friends flee from the religion of Mormonism, it is ACCURSED! Devoted to eternal destruction! Let’s look at a second witness from the words of their own teachers…

Jesus paid for all our sins when He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane,” (Laurel Rohlfing, “Sharing Time: The Atonement,” Friend, Mar. 1989, p. 39).

…and what about the words of this famous Mormon apostle…

Where and under what circumstances was the atoning sacrifice of the Son of God made? Was it on the Cross of Calvary or in the Garden of Gethsemane? It is to the Cross of Christ that most Christians look when centering their attention upon the infinite and eternal atonement. And certainly the sacrifice of our Lord was completed when he was lifted up by men; also, that part of his life and suffering is more dramatic and, perhaps, more soul stirring. But in reality the pain and suffering, the triumph and grandeur, of the atonement took place primarily in Gethsemane,” – Bruce McConkie

I can go on…

“We honor His birth. But without His death that birth would have been but one more birth. It was the redemption which He worked out in the Garden of Gethsemane and upon the cross of Calvary which made His gift immortal, universal, and everlasting,” – Gordon B. Hinckley

The Savior’s atonement in the garden and on the cross is intimate as well as infinite,” – Merrill J. Bateman

But what does the scripture say…

“And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed,” – 1st Peter 2:24)

Jesus death upon the cross is referred to in Romans as a “propitiation”, meaning to “turn away” God’s wrath for sin. The propitiation is a public event – therefore Jesus didn’t atone for our sins privately in the garden but publicly when he was executed on the cross.

But friends, if you think this is the only damnable heresy of the Mormons then stick around because we have just begun to expose this hellish religion…
